Can’t wait to see how she works this out 🙂

My story book is going to be about a young boy who was going to do what most knights couldn’t do in his kingdom, be a hero and save the princess. Every knight that had come and gone to save the princess in the tower they had failed and never tried to save her a second time. But this hero, even though he had failed numerous of times, he kept on going, trying to defeat the monsters and save the lovely princess. Even though he kept trying and failing he continues on until he could save the princess in the lonely and dangerous tower.

Update: How i’m going to do this is drawing out the characters and then inking them and then coloring it in with either color pencils or scanning and then editing on photoshop.

Great changes! It adds to the story, taking a more contemporary look on beauty and body image. Great!

The Birth of Venus (La Naissance de Vénus) is one of the most famous paintings by 19th-century painter William-Adolphe Bouguereau. It depicts not the actual birth of Venus from the sea, but her transportation in a shell, as a fully mature woman, from the sea to Paphos in Cyprus. For Bouguereau, it is considered a tour de force. The canvas stands at just over 9 ft 10 in (3.00 m) high, and 7 ft 2 in (2.18 m) wide. The subject matter, as well as the composition, resembles the rather more famous rendition of this subject, Sandro Botticelli‘s The Birth of Venus, as well as Raphael‘s The Triumph of Galatea.

My Version.

This my version. I wanted to contrast the idea of what “beauty” is, and how it was perceived before, when the original was made,  and how it is now. I have the idea that the media…

One of my favorites! Love the simplicity, leaves a lot of room for imagination 🙂

When looking back on my childhood memories and the books that were red to me, the first one that popped into my mind was Harold and the Purple Crayon.  This was my all time favorite and the one I would repeatedly request to hear.  Funny thing is, I told my father about this project and he immediately asked me ,”Do you remember that book with the boy and his crayon”.  That book must have struck home for the both of us.  It made me think that though the book had simple drawings and very few words, it wasn’t necessarily the book but the time it allowed us to share together that we subconsciously connect with book.

The book is just about a young boy who dreams big and has the power to create an alternate world around him, simply with his purple crayon.

Project 3 Rough

Funny changes, but I think more texture can be added so that the changes don’t look so cut-and-paste. Can you post an original of the painting? How have you changed this image from the original?

I guess this is more less just a trying sample, just to make sure I got everything or at least to see if this is what I’m suppose to do.

Good to know your timeline. Let’s talk more about your changes before you send your file in. Bring more sketches on Monday 🙂

Image Since I’m sticking with the Edo period in Japan. I’ve been looking up different art pieces done by different artist.  Such as Soga,  and his piece the dragon and clouds. I know for a fact I wouldn’t be able to get this project done by Sunday and have it be ordered so I’m gonna get it printed at Kinko’s or something before the 3rd of Dec.  Anyways.  I used the background as a base for this, added in a tiger who caught and killed a Crane bird, as the others flew away. One returned, probably feeling bad for his friend.  Anyways, I added  the cranes, and tigers by using two different art pieces, but I added the grass and blood.  Soooo…  I’m open to suggestions,  I’m still trying out different ideas for the dragon though.  This is more less, just to see if I’m understanding things correctly.

try 2 or rough draft 2

Hey Jean! I see some changes to the texture of the painting, but I am not seeing a change in the narrative to make it your own. I would consider changing the interaction between the animals? What are you thinking? This project requires more that the exhibited changes in this image. Let’s talk about more ideas- anyone got suggestions?

Image So here is attempt 2, I gave it some filters, the texture, and a stroke for the border around it. So what do you guys think?

Hey Caleb! I think that you are getting somewhere with the photographic version of yourself in the mirror. It still looks like it needs a little more tightening up, the texture looks separate- consider blending the textures in more. What do you think about the changes? I agree with both you and Juan. GREAT!

Triple Portrait Painting II

I’ve updated my painting portrait by adding a real picture of myself. I’ve tried to make it look like its painted, but it doesn’t really show.

Any suggestions?

The famous painting I have chosen to change on Photoshop is American Gothic by Grant Wood. It was created in the 1930s during the Great Depression which made people look at it as the attitude and spirit of the average American. It only won 3rd place in a art show competition but became one of the most well known paintings in America.

After studying this picture for a while, I noticed that the man’s glasses looked a lot similar to the glasses a famous book and movie character named Harry Potter wears throughout the story. I decide I was going to use that similarity to make the man look a lot like Harry Potter. I am going to remove the pitchfork from his hand and place a wand there instead; put a scar on his forehead; give him a griffindor badge and give him the Harry Potter hair style.
